I just can't agree with this mindset - I don't understand why we need to leave something unproductive in place if it's not doing any good. Not like it's seriously harmful in and of itself, but like it was noted above, it does empower people who would impose their ideas and morality onto others when there is no basis to support those ideas having an added benefit beyond actual church doctrine.

I simply don't like that we're giving power and validation to people who over-interpret things and make up dumb rules.
