The Plan
It seems this was the plan all along. Play in Europe and save some cash while the family is young and then start some type of career back in the USA when done.
Might as well start banking money now although I hope he is making much more than $200k.
Italy is a great central location for quick trips to many countries and attractions. Not a bad strategy.

IIRC they also have a built in room and board as part of the package for all foreign players in most euro pro leagues
