While I agree with you that the OL really struggled early, the C was 6'4" 318 lb
Terrence Brown and he had the Reynolds brothers to his left. Maybe you're thinking of a different season?
All three of those offensive linemen were projected to be drafted into the NFL -- Brown and Matt Reynolds ended up with NFL free agent deals, and Houston Reynolds suffered a career ending injury the following season.
My feeling is that the 2011 OL simply really struggled to pick up newly introduced blocking schemes, and Heaps paid the price for that.
