No, we merely think it is better than G5.
BYU was drowning in the MWC and going nowhere fast. We weren't winning conference championships as a G5. We weren't going to "good" bowls. And the financial situation was the scraps from the table scraps.
Independence may ultimately be a bust, but it's the only viable option right now and gives us the best chance to move on to a P5 conference at some point. G5 affiliation is a dead end.
