The point is that it shows what a young, inexperienced QB Hoge is. Sure, he and any QB are going to make dumb plays, nobody is perfect.
But the reason the coaches start Mangum is that he set BYU records as a Freshman and he is obviously the most experienced QB. He was the guy in the spring and fall practices.
When we had to put Hoge in, he made mistakes, more mistakes than good things. He can run and he can throw the ball, he just made some bad passes. Unfortunately, he got hurt before he really got going. So he still does not have the experience. Mangum is still the QB with the experience. Now Critchlow is in the mix so if and when Hoge is ready, will he play?
