LGBT pressures kept BYU from joining the Big XII which has some of the most prominent church schools in the country (TCU and Baylor). If an LDS school can’t get into that conference because of religious discrimination then BYU has no chance at an P5 conference.

AAC could be a solution that would provide scheduling answers to the difficulties of finding opponents as an independent but BYU would lose leverage in exposure.
