It doesn't mean you have to go all WSU. There's a world of gray area between Wisconsin and them. But the truth is that they are both extremes, and you really might need those athletes to survive year in year out. They have beyond elite talent at RB and OL. BYU can rarely field 5 really solid all at one time on the OL, plus do depth there, and they don't have the RB depth. There's no reason at all to try to be like them. But like I said, that doesn't mean we go all WSU and run the ball 5 times a game.
It's not really a speed thing, it's just quality and depth overall. It's not even close for BYU. But no matter what you run, you still need to build up your OL and focus on that recruiting. But there's this exaggeration that you somehow need this elite talent to play a more spread offense and that teams like Stanford and Wisconsin are just a bunch of big, powerful, slow white guys. Reality is that they have crazy elite talent... And Stanford still manages to blow it. Their offense is crap and their QB development has been pretty bad overall the last 15 years.
Be better off trying to look more like Washington or Arkansas than one of those two.
