I have the same concerns you do. He has never been on OC. However, he has many years of position coaching at the highest levels of college football (BYU, CU, Auburn, and LSU). He at least has recruited, seen how the meetings are run, etc. in other words, coaching at the college level is his life. That is something that could not be said for Detmer.
