Detmer's lack of experience wasn't merely play calling.
Like Grimes, he'd also never been an offensive coordinator either.
However, Detmer also had absolutely no coaching experience beyond the high school level.
That's where the two are very different.
Detmer's accomplishments as a player have nothing to do with coaching.
