If I accept that as fact (that the oceans are warming), I still don't get what is happening to the atmospheric temperatures. Why aren't they rising as well? I understand there is a heat exchange during el nino/la nina, but that is heat LEAVING the ocean and going into the atmosphere. What human-created issues cause the reverse? Are you saying the heat rises into the atmosphere, then gets reflected back somehow into the oceans? I'm not a scientist, but that doesn't seem to make sense. Heat rises, and I would think you would still measure an increase in temps in the atmosphere.
