You'll have to turn to more knowledgeable sources concerning Milankovitch cycles. Given the incredibly complex nature of the cycles, their incoherent response may have been attempts to explain a very complicated issue to someone not specialized in the field in a short period of time. I encourage you to turn to scholarly archives to look for more. If your search turns up empty, maybe there is room for you to fill in gaps!
I hesitate to draw many conclusions from comparing simple every day models drawn up at work to complex models from years of dedicated study. I do know that the Hansen 1988 model has been shown to be very accurate, though of course there is constant room for improvement as we learn more and more.
I think things Al Gore's over exaggerations did immense harm in making this issue overly political for most. I consider myself quite conservative, but just can't toe the line on this issue after all the reading I've done. I think everyone would do best to ignore every claim they ever here from a pundit or politician and just turn to the science.
