Is it really possible to get the politics out of this?
Love that you used what is part of the science discussion. I love that you didnt name call or belittle anyone - which is all too common part of being on the other side of this discussion. I just dont think its possible to ever take away the political side to this argument. Why?

Because if the science is real then there will be massive changes that need to be made. Many developing countries would have to slow what they are doing to develop their fledgling industries in favor of the greater good of the planet. "Sorry China, you gotta stick to being an also-ran in the great game of global economic dominance". There are many countries in Africa who are going to feel the sting of not being able to drive cars or have electrical plants to have their 50" screen to watch the World Cup 2014.

The basis for this entire thinking of man made global warming is rooted in Robert Malthus and his theories of man and population increases and the coming apocalypse (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Robert_Malthus). Basically, he was the first to call for global catastrophes because of population growth.

What does the science mean if its true? Basically, we all have to reduce our carbon footprint to pre world war 2 levels. Yes, that means few of us have cars and ride bicycles. It means we probably will never fly in an airplane again in our lifetime and your house will be either too cold to the point of being dangerous or too hot in the summer. Yet, the political elite will be able to continue to keep doing what they have been doing all along while preaching the doctrine of climate science (http://www.torontosun.com/2013/05/10/al-gore-carbon-hypocrite). Yes, he can tell everyone else that global warming is a real disaster looming for the rest of us serfs, but he can have multiple multi-million dollar homes and sell his network to a huge oil-producing regime and call it good. The fact that one of the biggest proponents of global warming is such a big hypocrite means that either he doesnt care because he is above the science and he is the king to the rest of us great unwashed OR he doesnt believe the science that he is spewing and is laughing all the way to the bank (count me as a believer in the latter).

I have started to read through the links and the articles you provided. It will take time. Most of this is extremely hard to get through. Plus, I am not sure the scientists are, with an unbiased view, telling me fact. Just know that any research of this topic is tainted by the skeptics who dont believe or the alarmists who has it in their self-interest to make sure the science of climate change and the behaviors that will have to be modified all happen as they want. People are beholden to their political leanings and will be swayed by what supports that ideology.
