Texas received commitments from some of the best HS recruits in the country but few of them panned out. Mack Brown said in an interview that they didn't pan out because they believed in their stars too much, they believed they were entitled to winning because it came so easy for them in high school. They didn't realize that playing football at Texas was a massive leap even for a guy from the best high school in Texas. A lot of them didn't know how to work for it and didn't know how to be managed by a coach. So they failed.
I don't think that level of star failure could happen at BYU, because we simply won't get the same amount of 4-5 star recruits, but we will probably see more guys who believe in their own hype and fade out under Kalani than we did under Bronco. I think that is what Bronco was trying to avoid.
