need to step up in those areas?
He knows you will get him up, give him a list of "to do's" and he can just coast along relying on that?
As parents we don't want to let our kids fail, but often we protect them from that so aggressively that we don't allow them to work independently from our management.
Perhaps tell him. "You are 15 now. Here is an alarm clock. Your ride to school leaves at XX:XXam. Be ready or you will have to walk/find your own ride."
Also "You are 15. You get good grades, so it is clear you know how. We are going to stop being so involved in your day to day homework. We still expect you to get these same grades, but you shouldn't need our reminders anymore. We are more than willing to help you with any homework, even a reminder for larger projects, but we need you, as a 15 year old, to be in charge. If you want us to remind you, you need to let us know. If you need something for an assignment, you need to let us know. You are at an age, where you need to be more in charge of your own time."
Or something like that.
I bet your boy will surprise you with how capable and independent he can be when given the opportunity...even if he has to fail a few times first.
