Just described my almost 14 year old. Basically have accepted the fact that

he will be redoing 8th grade. His choice, I guess. Worse thing to happen to him was COVID and doing schoolwork from home. His addiction are computer video games, and since he needs to log in twice a week (we are in hybrid mode here in South Jersey) along with his homework is mostly electronic, we can't keep him from computer games and YouTube/Twitch.

We had him tested and he doesn't have ADHD. No depression, either. He does have sensor processing disorder.
