Well, another year has come and gone and my solar panels are still on the roof, no leaks, no problems.
According to my inverter I've produced 20.52MWh in the last two years, $2,359.80 saved at $0.115/kWh. I'm right on track to break even on my after-tax-rebate cost in just over 3 years from install. The low-snow winter we just had ended up making only a 5% difference to my annual production compared to the previous year's heavy snow.
One thing I wish I had realized is that it is difficult to find the same panels two years later. I've considered adding a couple more panels to keep up with some additional demand since my basement will be finished in a couple months (also a DIY project). Can't find anyone who will sell me the panels I bought two years ago, especially in low quantities. Something to think about for others that are planning on getting solar and adding capacity in the future. There are equivalent panels I can get but they look different enough that it will be a bit odd putting the on the roof next to the original set.
