Nutrition education is sorely lacking while getting a medical degree. Also, just because you aren't a doctor doesn't mean you can't read up on this stuff and be quite educated. In fact, a good hour or two would probably equate to the amount of nutritional education I received in medical school. I didn't learn more until residency and fellowship in fields where nutrition takes center stage.
