did play against the Malone led Jazz just one year removed from when they played the Jordan led Bulls. The Spurs didn't beat the Jazz though in the playoffs, but that is because the Jazz didn't make it that far. The Spurs won the championship.

By my count the Jazz only won the Western Conference twice. Duncan won it 6 times. Duncan's Spurs had to continually compete with the Shaq/Kobe Lakers, a challenge Malone never had in order to get to the NBA Finals (early in his career the Lakers were great, but the Jazz weren't even in the playoffs so it is hard to say that the Lakers were a challenge for him).

I would guess you are a Jazz fan, because otherwise the Duncan/Malone conversation is fairly lopsided. Most Jazz fans have just resorted to trying to get Duncan considered a center.
