I think Malone has been unfairly maligned for choking, because the Jazz never really had another scorer in the front court and in big games teams could just throw a bunch of goons at him and double and triple team him, but Duncan is a particularly cool character in the playoffs. Malone was a better shooter and ran the floor better. Both were good passers. In head-to-head matchups, Duncan's length gave Malone fits.
