3 days a week is typical. There is a workout A and a workout B. For example:
Monday Workout A
Squats, bench, bent over row

Wed Workout B
Squats, shoulder press, dead lift

Fri Workout A
Squats, bench, bent over row

Monday Workout B
Squats, shoulder press, dead lift

And repeat. Yes, squats every time. They have an excel spreadsheet that autopopulates the lifts, their scaling amounts, and the dates. It will even calculate a starting weight (which will be lower than you think) for each lift based on your current abilities. It's pretty slick.
