I car pool with a Samoa guy.....
and I asked him this past week how to tell the difference (I think we were mostly talking from a names perspective). I can't remember his answer, but I'm pretty sure that having a "g" pronounced as an "ng" (Filiaga - pronounced "filianga") is a giveaway to a Samoan.

Isn't Sikahema a tongan? Hawaiians have multiples of vowels in their last names....Tuipulotu, Fuamaatu-Maafala, Foinoimoana, etc. Am I correct?

I'm not sure I can readily distinguish between which polynesian islands produce the "best" athlete.
