I've spent more than my share in faikavas, but I'm a Palangi.
My "cousins", the Johansson brothers (we both have Swedish grandfathers), were so kind to let me hang out with them & drink kava, they taught me the Tongan I know (along with the dictionary & the book by the BYU-Hawaii professor, can't remember his name).
I've met a few Tongans you could easily confuse with African Americans (he might have been 3/4 Fijian, or something), a few who can look somewhat Hispanic & my wife said she thought Kalani Sitake was Greek. (LOL!)
Pretty wide variety... Absolutely wonderful people.
