Be mad at the system. We should do everything to get it changed. The biggest issue is that our companies pay for our
insurance and the insurance companies in turn contract with hospitals, doctors, etc. We have no idea what the costs will be walking in. Because it is hidden from the consumer, there is no real price competition in the marketplace. Someone walking in off the street pays 3 to 4 times more for the same service than the insurance company of a person getting the same service.

The key would be to make it competitive for clinics to operate and be paid directly at the time of service. Still, with liabilities and requirements to offer care to those who can't pay, it is a very difficult problem.

Many places do offer "cash" rates if you ask up front which are usually reduced.

Such a big mess that's costing us all dearly.
