several families and potential prospects who just 10 years ago would never consider Utah. Now they not only consider them, they are fawning over them and signing with them. If we can't beat Utah then beating the likes of LSU doesn't matter. The state of Utah is the most important recruiting battle state for BYU. If we can't convince the local top LDS players to play for us OVER Utah, then what are out of state non LDS players going to think? Being LDS doesn't guarantee anything in this state anymore. Being the top program is what matters. There are athletes in High School that have no memory of BYU beating Utah. This is serious stuff. It's not just about us locals getting razzed by Ute fans. No, we are in a struggle for an entire generation of not only athletes, but future fans.
It starts right here..in Utah...and we have fallen behind. That's why beating Utah is so important. That's why LSU doesn't matter. Nobody matters, until we can beat Utah.
