And yet most agree we out-recruited the Utes in Utah head-to-head last year...
I realize that recruiting is the life-blood of any CFB program, but it's not an all or nothing kind of issue. There are some kids out there who love BYU no matter what. There are those (a few at least) that like the idea of going to "an underdog" and helping to restore a team to prominence. Overall, sure, we want to be the best program in the state and be the kind of team that can get CFP/NY6 attention/access in recruits minds. We'd love to win ALL the recruiting battles with the Utes. However, neither team will ever achieve this "win em all" level for in-state LDS recruits.

Hearing people say "LSU doesn't matter" or that beating them "does nothing" for the program is baffling to me. It's some type of mental distortion that apparently the Ute fanbase has somehow foisted into the minds of many BYU fans.

Beating a top 10 LSU would be a top 10 all time win for BYU (arguably top 5 given the circumstances and assuming they end highly ranked too). How can people say such a win won't matter or mean anything? It will focus massive national attention onto BYU and put us in the national spotlight until we lose. Recruits inside and outside of Utah will take note of that attention and it will influence their decision. Beating Utah will we awesome for recruiting too.

Let's win em both, eh?

PS. Oh, and what does it tell you when Utes are giving this OP their POTD. They love how far they've wiggled into many fans' heads.
