Certainly wasn't fun always losing to BYU and being seemingly the only Ute fans in Davis County. Finally the glorious beat down in 88 with Scott Mitchell and I couldn't wait to finally give back on the gloating to my friends. Sadly, wasn't as satisfying as I'd hoped as it was met with an "it's about time the blind squirrel found a nut" attitude. However, the tables have turned and the angst of wondering if you'll ever win the Holy War again has Cougars in a panic. Be aware that the same blind squirrel attitude will surely be there when the streak is broken, but respect would have to come again with more regular victories.
I love the rivalry as my BYU friends and I keep it fun/friendly. I appreciate what BYU does though I sometimes cringe at the negative attention it occasionally brings. I chose Utah for my undergrad because of the Computer Science program though I was slightly tempted to join mission buddies down south before coming to my senses. I like to read on here occasionally in the offseason to find threads like this as it's great therapy for my dark Ute childhood (tic).
If you made it this far, thanks for reading my rare ramblings on a rival board.
