Of course LSU is a big win. But I would not trade it for another Utah loss. The
Utes are POTDing this because it's a true statement. We are in a war for all the young kids along the wasatch front, and they are winning. We had a Sitake bump with recruiting and in culture change and yet in year one, the result was the same, a Utah loss. Do you realize what will happen if he drops another one, in LES?

Look, the biggest point I'm trying to make and I think EVERYBODY underestimates this, is that a large chunk of the current BYU fanbase was built on the success of the 1980's and early 90's. You wonder why CB is hopping now? Well, all those kids who were raised during those years are now 35-50 years old. Prime age for being a season ticket holder, traveling to games. Even those that have moved away are still the kids of that era. A natty, Heisman winner, multiple NFL QB's, Wins over top ten teams, A Cotton Bowl win, probably 18-4 over Utah. Don't overlook that. How popular was BYU football prior to that? Not very. We are and aging fanbase. The next generation of kids has had nothing to become passionate about in comparison.

Utah has reversed everything. The Sugar Bowl, the #1 pick, The Pac 12, wins over big time programs, dominant over BYU...we lost a TON of kids in the last 15 years. It wasn't Bronco's fault, or BYU's fault, it was Utah's success. Credit Utah for building what they have. And those kids they attracted over the that span are now Utes for life, and they will carry that fanbase for the next 40 years.

The 1980's generation of BYU kids is aging. Don't think their sons and daughters are just going to be the same passionate fanbase as their fathers. They won't be. I have nephews and nieces that can't remember any HUGE wins. Not over Utah, or and Top 10 teams. They like BYU, want to cheer for them. But they just aren't passionate about BYU sports. They tend to look at Utah as superior. These are the wasatch front kids of today. The same LDS kids that will one day, graduate, and move out of state and not have much interest in BYU sports.

I'm talking about the future. It's a slow process. We won't realize how many fans we truly lost until one day all these kids of this era are 35 years old we are too old, and nobody's buying tickets.

We need to fire up the local base, the local recruits. It's going to be done in the Utah game. Where kids can where their BYU shirts to school with pride and not get mocked for losing 10 of 13, 7 in a row, etc...whatever it is. It's a big deal.

That's my point. We are losing a lot of future fans.
