It's hard to say if Munns and Lark were overrated, they never got much of a...
...chance at getting reps. They were mission casualties for one thing, both left on missions and had lousy timing. Their missions cheated them out of a decent chance to establish themselves on the depth chart behind Hall. Gaskins was the backup by default (not much competition) and when they returned from their missions, Riley had already established himself as the primary backup to Hall and the main competition with the overrated Heaps after Max left.

Munns had the further bad luck of returning from his mission AFTER spring camp ended and had to wait until Fall Camp to get started putting him even further behind. All the reps in practices at that point went to Riley and Heaps. Bronco and Doman had blossoming mancrushes on Nelson while Anae liked Heaps and eyes for nobody else It was so bad that BYU had a future NFL draft pick buried on the depth chart and never gave him any attention and eventually invited him to go become the best college QB in the state of Utah down at Southern Utah.

If BYU Coaches couldn't even sniff a future NFL draft pick on their QB depth chart and ran him out of Provo, how could we believe they gave Lark or Munns much of a look at all let alone a legit shot?
