I think you're spot on in saying that Bronco wasn't the best at hiring and developing good assistant coaches. I had never thought of it that way. It makes so much more sense to me now. He gave his assistants a ton of leeway to teach technique, but I think that a lot of them weren't the best at teaching the little things consistently.
I think that conversely, Kalani is trying to surround himself with great assistants. Ed Lamb is going to be a D-1 Head Coach someday. I think that Ty and Tuiaki could be HCs too. Time will tell, but I think that Kalani is like Lavell in that he has an eye for hiring great assistant coaches.
