That’s abysmal. Something has to change. I’d like to have seen Detmer in the box. He was drowning a lot of the year.
What kind of offense requires perfect execution every play just to have a chance to succeed? Any loss of yardage at all and this offense had no chance whatsoever.
Injuries, talent, coaching, opposition, etc. does it matter? Could BYU accept this year, call it a fluke, and then ask all these top-rates athletes to give their careers on a promise that it wasn’t the coaches fault? When they barely managed 10 points vs. UMass? Something had to change to give hope to the players coming in.
This staff never gave other kids on the roster a real chance to prove themselves when starters flailed time and again.
Some players should’ve been benched for no other reason than they didn’t play hard. But nothing changed and that fell to the OC. Sorry, but that’s how it goes. Don’t motivate your boys and you go down with em.
