I don't think it has anything to do with owing anyone
Just a matter of accountability. I think the character and integrity Kyle Van Noy displayed after his brush with the law really set the tone for him to work his way back. Now look where he is. I am sure he is grateful for now for what Bronco had him do to work his way back.
