Probably because she didn’t set out to kill someone else. I’m not up on CA law,
but I believe 1st degree murder requires premeditation, which requires intent. If she had meant to kill someone else and hit his car while trying, the intent would transfer. Suicide probably doesn’t transfer the intent to another victim.
