People who want to kill themselves are not in their right mind. It might be temporary. Or it might be long-term illness. But anyone who wants to kill themself is definitely not right in the mind.
Doesn't excuse the consequences of this incident or potential legal ramifications and it doesn't excuse the behavior. But there is no "probably" about the fact that they are experiencing a least a lapse in their mental health.
