I don't know California law but isn't premeditation
of the act that caused the death with reckless disregard of the consequences also tantamount to premeditated?
She told her Mom she was going to commit suicide by driving her car in the wrong direction; the act of driving in reckless disregard of consequences to the other driver. If I fire into a crowd, I don't have specific intent to murder any particular person but I have a reason to believe it might kill somebody.
