chodilicus Walk-on
So I mention 3 walk-ons that I like

and somehow you read "a team full of role players" and from the post "I gather our class is about 100% role players". Somehow the point of the post really, really went over your head.

Let me clarify my point. Of course I prefer 4 and 5 star playmakers. However, if you cannot get those, and BYU definitely did not, then there is usually 2 approaches. Approach 1, that most on here have advocated, is go get the best pure athletes you can find and try and convert them into playmakers and WRs. This seems to be the approach we took with guys like Trinnaman, Akile Davis, Talon Shumway, Micah Simon and even Beau Tanner. Nice athletes that were more known in HS for playing other sports or positions and just struggle to get open and catch the ball consistently. They are nice athletes but not playmakers no matter what the 40 times or shuttle numbers say.

The 2nd approach is to get slightly underathletic guys or undersized guys who simply are playmakers. They are not impressive at a combine but they simply make plays. They probably don't have any other offers. The hope if that these guys just have football speed and instincts. Many just won't be able to play at a high level, but you may find or develop some stars.

The point of my post is that I like adding approach 2 to the first. Neither are as good as just getting 4 and 5 star guys. I get that. I am just finding 1 silver lining which is we got some HS playmakers with nice stats and some D1 football scholarships to walk on at BYU in this class.
