I had a professor that lived in Vegas for a long time. He told a story about one of his friends that was sick, so he had to go to the hospital. I don't remember what the doctors did, but the guy ended up becoming a quadriplegic. He obviously couldn't work because of his condition. He sued the hospital for medical malpractice. Since Nevada has a cap on their MM lawsuits, he only got like $300,000 out of the suit.
So, an otherwise healthy man was screwed out of a lot of money because of the cap that Nevada has in place.
