I mean the program is down but it’s not down that far. Boise has had the last two seasons and will the next two seasons a combo of BYU, Oklahoma State, Uconn, Virginia, Florida State, Washington State, Oregon State and they play a Pac-12 team in their bowl games most seasons. That along with a conference schedule that beats what we have as a October and November schedule makes this an ideal move schedule wise if the goal is to return to a competitive and nationally ranked team.
Having Boise State as a conference rival, Utah as a Pac-12 rival, and then one or two additional P5 games a year is enough to make a NY6 bowl in a 12-1 11-2 type seasons. As it stands now 10-2 or 11-1 aren’t possible and if they were we aren’t sniffing NY6 bowls with losses
