games as an independent, so why would we be able to win them in a conference (assuming we can still get those games, which I think is a big assumption)? I'm sure we'd be close to 11-1 than 4-9, but I also think if we stay independent we probably won't have very many 4-9 seasons either.

As far as basketball, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. When you have a perennial power team in your conference though, I think any argument that the conference is somehow hurting your team is a little odd. All we have to do is win. The solution to our problem is completely within our control. Schedule tough games and win. If we win as often as GU, we'll dance, WCC or not.
