Too many cbers are too proud to admit that indy is not working. Too proud to admit that maybe we should be in the mwc or aac. BYU's major sports are dying and too many cbers believe that staying the course on a dying vine is the answer. No bsc conference is going to take BYU. It is not going to happen. We can not even recruit the best LDS athletes. So how are we suppose to compete?
I do not think the Lord looks at sports and says hey I will be on BYU's side so they can win a game against Utah. The Lord is on our side to help us be individually the best we can be, I do not think that applies to being national champs in college sports.
I love BYU sports and it stinks seeing the downfall of our major sports. Maybe I was spoiled because my first encounter with BYU was the Miracle bowl and Danny Ainge beating Norte Dame.
Sorry all of the money from espn is not going to garner us more elite athletes. Power 5 conference I believe would do wonders for us. I am sorry but the social climate of today is not going to get better and so the Church's standards/The Lords standards will be seen as noninclusive and discriminatory in nature.
I would love to see BYU beat all the p5 schools we play. Win the WCC in Basketball and make it into the sweet16-8 or better. I just do not see it happening and I do not think indy and wcc affiliation has helped in our recruiting.
The question is would joining the MWC or AAC stop our downward spiral? I do not know. What I currently see is a BYU sports program that is mediocre at best and certainly a shadow of its self in comparison to when I first started watching BYU. Go Cougs
