I'll second that comment. When we attend our annual conference in management we

add an extra 100+ to sacrament attendance. They were hiring one position and had tons of applications in about a week. Then look at the hires and compare them to where else they could work based on experience and education, and BYU definitely gets a premium crop of qualified faculty, despite a reputation of paying less and expecting more than other places they could go.
