"emotionally soft" and saying "something seems off with him" and all the other similar phrases I've seen from a lot of posters here on CB over the last year is really inappropriate. These are code words a lot of people use to describe depression and it's not cool. Anyone who understands depression knows that it doesn't necessarily prevent people from performing at a high level. I doubt Tanner would use depression as an excuse for not performing well. It's entirely possible, if not likely, that Tanner's performance issues last season were due to other factors, his deficiencies in certain skill sets, his training regimen, etc. Also, as was plain for everyone to see, a huge problem with last year's offense was coaching and the offensive schemes they were using. None of the schemes fit Tanner well and the coaches didn't adjust appropriately. Resist the temptation to blame Tanner's performance on depression, either directly or by using code words.
That's just not cool.
