Mentally fragile ≠ Depression
No one is saying that because he has depression he is mentally fragile.
They are commenting on what they’ve noted on the field where he doesn’t seem to demonstrate that special “it” that some players do.
Jim McMahon had “it”. When LE called for a punt when the team seemed out of it in the 1980 Holiday Bowl and Jimmy Mac waved him off and refused to get off the field until it forced LE to take a timeout and rethink it-that is the special “it”. And it requires some amazing mental strength.
We haven’t seen that same level of mental strength out of Mangum, and so he has been called by some “mentally fragile”.
Has absolutely nothing to do with depression that he may suffer from.
