I supported him fully through 2/3 of last year until it became evident to me that he 100% created this mess. Yes, Ty was inexperienced and I get why he had to go, but KS created an atmosphere that made it impossible for a guy like Ty to succeed, and then he threw Ty under the bus to keep eyes off him AND how atrocious his buddy Tuiaki’s D was.

KS is a great guy and a BYU guy, there’s no denying that, but make no mistake, since game 7 or so last season he has gone into self preservation mode and has been there ever since.

If the improvement isn’t substantial on both sides of the ball, I can’t see any reason why he should should be here in 2019.

Why? Because he fundamentally corroded the disciplined culture so needed at a school that can’t compete with most P5 schools in recruiting. Hard-nosed discipline and scheme is all we have...it’s all we have and he threw both to the street to be buddies with his players. As a result both the O and D were simplified down to the basics because there wasn’t enough discipline to execute.

We will see improvement in the O this year, but I don’t know about the D.

If KS can be KS and continue to bring in guys like Grimes to instill the discipline and scheme on both sides of the ball, I can see him surviving and I can even see myself eventually getting behind him. I’m having a hard time seeing how that’s gonna happen.

Yet, in the end I want this team to succeed so bad this year even to the point that I’ll eat my words and praise KS and Tuiaki to the sky if I’m proven wrong. Please, let it happen.
