I think your post is fine.  Except that you are going to leave a lot to be desired in both reading comprehension and writing skills.  Neither of which are well taught under the current regime.

If you are reading a book and don't understand a word, you can look it up.  If you are just listening, you might miss the meaning and jsut move on. your vocabulary will be limited as will your understaning.

I'm all for more readins, audio books and lectures, youtube classes,  and less whatever they do all day in class that results in little useful learning.
