Rivals, ESPN gave Hall 2*. Check BYU's Commitment list for 2006.
Rivals may have given Hall 3* out of high school, but that was down graded to 2* by the time he commited to BYU.
ESPN had Williams as a 2*
"Unga had offers from all 3 in-state schools." So? 2 MWC schools and a bad WAC school? That sounds about right for a 2* recruit. I also found this comment ironic since you included 2 players who tranfered from actual P5 schools in your list, but discount Unga because he had 2 other G5 offers.
"Hoffman was never really evaluated" Wasn't that the whole point of your OP? coaches finding players better than the # of stars by their name?
I'm not disparagingthe value of the current overperforming 2*, just saying that it is nothing out of the ordinary.
