Why would somebody like you, or anyone else that makes decent income pay tithing on gross
are you that insecure about your salvation? Do you hope the extra few bucks will get you into heaven?

Coming from a long line of net tithepayers, this is completely illogical to me. It's like paying a 13-20% tithe on your increase depending on your tax bracket. I don't really care about answers from college students or those with a very low income, my question is for people such as you (based on your likley income reference in post) with solid incomes who are paying thousands upon thousands more than their piers (their bishops, freinds, collegues, stake leaders) with similar incomes? For example on your five hundred dollar paycheck, your paid 16 times the amount of tithing I would have paid.

Seems completely uncessesary to me. Obviously the Lord doesn't care that you pay gross or the church leaders would have picked a side by now. Yet you still do it.
