that people who have resolved a different way with the Lord are "illogical" and "unnecessary" and are only doing so because they "insecure in their salvation" and are trying to buy their way into heaven.
Commitment to the Gospel is a whole lot more than figuring out the bare minimum way to check some boxes and then acting incredulous when people see things differently. There are people who donate a whole bunch more than the value of 2 meals as fast offerings. There are people who spend every waking hour ministering to others. There are people who go on a half dozen missions, or magnify their callings, who visit people in the hospital, who read their scriptures all the time, who join the ward choir, who feed the missionaries all the time, who help old ladies cross the street, who volunteer their vacation to take the young men on high adventure, who sponsor missionaries who can't afford to go, etc. That may seem illogical and unnecessary to you, but I can assure you that they aren't only doing it because they are insecure in their salvation.
