Paying off your mortgage early is a guaranteed return on investment
Investing in the market is not. To be clear, I think you should max out your 401k before making additional mortgage payments. But if you're already maxing your retirement accounts and you have long term savings under control, paying down your mortgage makes a lot of sense.
