Nah....
they try to make it sound like your kid is the only kid even if you know that isn't true. You kind of learn how to separate the truth from the other stuff. I wouldn't say they lie but they try not to say to much while also trying to make you feel like you're the only one.

This is how it works, every school has a recruiting board and it lists out all of the players they are recruiting and it is in order of how important a recruit is to them. So depending on the particular school the top recruit on the board could be just about any position because their needs are not all the same. And of course there will be multiple players from each position on the board and they're also listed in the order of how good the school feels each one is.

So kids are ranked overall as a recruit and by position as a recruit.

And as kids commit and sign to that school or another school they are crossed off of the board and if that kid went to a different school then the next kid on the board at that position takes over the top spot.

Now with most positions there are going to be several players ranked on the board but QB's are a little bit different. Most schools will only sign one QB per year and probably only recruit a couple of them. so for linemen they may be looking to sign 6-7 of them and so if you are ranked in that top 6-7 then if you commit they will immediately accept that commitment. in fact they have probably made offers to all 6-7. But with a QB it is probably only 1 or 2 on the board at all.

So they play things a little bit differently with QB's since they really only want one and a that the one they want is the one they've ranked highest on their board. So they do try to maybe string along the one(s) that are not number 1 on their board in case they don't get the #1 guy.
