Puka Nacua is a glaring example of why byu’s Non P5 status is a huge hurdle to overcome particularly with recruiting.
A few reasons that scream why Puca should be going to BYU in no particular order:

1. The sons promised to honor their dying dads wishes of them going to BYU.

2. The family is LDS.

3. BYU has had and will have more success passing the ball than Utah.

4. Zach Wilson has mega star/NFL potential.

5. Head coach is Polynesian to which most fans thought meant top poly talent was his to lose.

6. His brother had a stellar career at BYU and is an nfl caliber guy now.

7. Would allow his widowed mother and family to watch him in their community of Utah valley.

Etc...

The fact that Puka doesn’t have BYU as a serious candidate (legitimate top 3 choice) screams that unless BYU manages to join big boy football, top talent will rarely choose BYU over P5 opportunites. I don’t blame these young men, times have changed. The gap between the power conferences and everyone else is massive and continuing to widen.
